People Want McDonald’s April Fools’ Day McPickle Burger To Be Added To The Menu

Uh-oh. It looks like McDonald’s April Fools’ prank might have led to some unforeseen consequences!

Yesterday, McDonald’s Australia got into the April Fools’ spirit by posting a picture of an “all-pickle” burger on their Instagram page. They jokingly mentioned in the caption that the burger is available “until yesterday,” a.k.a. never!

But some pickle-lovers did not pick up on that fine print, and they began to get very excited about the prospect of an all-pickle burger.

The full caption accompanying the photo of the all-pickle burger reads: “Pickle lovers, it’s the news you’ve all been waiting for. We’re super stoked to announce the launch of our brand new McPickle Burger. It’s time to tuck into juicy, flavoursome pickles layered between melted cheese, ketchup sauce and toasted sesame seed buns. It’s sure to be a treat for all your senses. #dailynuggets #mcpickle #pickleoverload #maccas #imlovinit”:

OK, we know it’s a joke and all, but it actually sounds sort of … delicious, in a very odd way.

And the good people of the Internet had a similar mouth-watering reaction, instantly tweeting and posting about their disappointment that this was only an April Fools’ Day prank.

In particular, expecting moms have been heartbroken by McDonald’s April Fools’ prank. After all, urban legends suggest that pregnant women really love pickles, and this demographic took the news that this was just a prank especially hard. “Being nine months pregnant, I would have eaten nothing but this until the baby arrives!” one woman commented on McDonald’s Instagram page.

But, hey, here’s the good news. A genius customer figured out a way to custom order this pickle burger from your local McDonald’s. Just ask for a Big Mac, with no Big Mac Sauce, no onions and no burger patty…then ask to add ketchup and three times the amount of pickles as normal.

He did it!
