‘The Fault In Our Stars’ author John Green finally has another book on the way!
If you’ve been waiting for what feels like forever for John Green’s new book, hang tight. The wait is almost over! The author of “The Fault In Our Stars” plans to release his first novel in six years. It’s called “Turtles All The Way Down,” and it sounds amazing.
This new book, which will debut on Oct. 10, tells the story of 16-year-old Aza Holmes. Green’s story follows Aza’s struggles with mental illness as she simultaneously searches for clues to solve the disappearance of a fugitive billionaire.
Green’s based his story on his own experience with mental illness.
“This is my first attempt to write directly about the kind of mental illness that has affected my life since childhood,” Green said in a press release. “I’ve been working on Turtles All the Way Down for years, and I’m so excited to share it with readers this October.”

What Does “Turtles All The Way” Down Mean?
The title may sound a little weird. However, Green didn’t just come up with a random name for his new book. “Turtles All The Way Down” ties to an interesting logic problem and cosmos theory. An Entertainment Weekly story gives a pretty good explanation:
The phrase “turtles all the way down” is an expression used to illustrate a logical problem in cosmology, the study of the origins and fate of the universe. In an oft-used anecdote, a professor tries to explain the solar system, only to have someone in the audience argue in favor of the ancient myth suggesting the earth is flat and rests on the back of a giant World Turtle. The professor asks what the turtle is standing on, and the audience member says it’s on the back of another turtle. Attempting to show the logical problem with the myth, the professor asks what’s beneath the second turtle. The audience member humorously responds, “It’s turtles all the way down.”
Wow. That’s pretty deep.
Good Stories Take Time For Green
Last year, John Green told the IndyStar that “Turtles All the Way Down” is pieced together out of things he had previously abandoned.
“It’s like building a car out of all the broke-down cars in your front yard,” he said. “I’m always trying to figure out what I can use off this junked car and what I can use off that junked car. Hopefully, someday I will be able to build a running car out of all those junked cars.”
Green takes his time writing his stories. In fact, “The Fault in Our Stars” took 10 years for the author to complete. So, waiting six years for this latest novel doesn’t seem quite so bad in comparison!
Green intends to sign the first 200,000 copies for sale. So make sure you pre-order now! We’ll just have to wait and see if it’s as heart-wrenching as the novel that made him famous. Here’s hoping it’s not, because I don’t think I can handle another book like that.
