Fiat Chrysler is recalling Dodge Ram pickup trucks because the tailgate can fall unexpectedly
People who own a 2015, 2016 or 2017 Ram pickup truck may be affected by a new Fiat Chrysler recall.
The company says tailgates with power locks could unexpectedly open while the trucks are moving. It issued a recall for Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickups from the 2015 through 2017 model years.
Dealers will fix the mechanism for those who bring in the recalled trucks. The recall begins Sept. 14, according to the Associated Press.
Not Fiat Chrysler’s First Recall This Year
In May, Fiat Chrysler recalled 4.8 million vehicles over an issue related to the cruise control getting stuck. There had been only one reported incident at the time. Among the vehicles were several Dodge Ram pickup trucks, including the 2014-18 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup and 2014-19 1500 pickup.
The car manufacturer also issued a recall in June, the result of a possible incorrect transmission park lock rod being installed in the transmission, increasing the risk of a crash. The 2018 Ram 1500 pickup trucks were affected in that recall.
Unhappy Customers
Ram owners took to Twitter to express their frustration, many of them, pointing out that the frequency of the recalls was frustrating. “I have dealing [sic] with this all year long and it’s the same thing every time no parts for recall T79 for the 2009 ram 1500,” wrote user @Milkand_cookies.
I have dealing with this all year long and it's the same thing every time no parts for recall T79 for the 2009 ram 1500. I'm also on the call list for when they do become available. When Dodge was Dodge in 2013 my recall then went perfect. Fiat cant seem to work recalls effective

Then there was @Kevin_F1, who basically delivered a “yep, that makes sense” response based on his perceived frequency of the company’s recalls:
Another day, another Dodge recall.#American #Quality #BuiltToLast

Other owners blamed the merger between Chrysler and Fiat for the vehicles’ shortcomings, noting that recalls were not an issue prior. In fact, @Milkand_cookies had a bone to pick about that, too:
What the hell happened to @Dodge ? Oh right @FiatChrysler_NA happened… 2013 recall went smooth but December 2017 recall still no answers for my year.. Buyouts FTL

It sounds like one big recall mess that, hopefully, gets sorted out soon.
