A flood submerged this Brazilian park and the underwater footage is beautiful

This is absolutely stunning.

Often a flood leaves a big mess in its wake. But when a river overflowed and flooded the park at Recanto Ecologico Rio da Prata in Jardim, Brazil this month, the result was like something out of a beautiful and whimsical dream.

Luckily, the cool sight of the flooded park was caught on video. It reminds me of seeing magical underwater world’s like those from “The Little Mermaid” or “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.”

Stunning! The water’s clarity could be because its source and the rules visitors must follow when there, according to Atlas Obscura.

The flood happened on Feb. 2, and by the next day, the waters had receded again, leaving the park in its original, dry state. Although Brazil’s underwater wonderland was a happy accident of nature, there are some sights around the world that were intended to be seen when submerged in water.

Other Underwater Wonderlands

In Spain, you can visit the Museo Atlantico, Europe’s first underwater museum. You have to scuba dive to get there, and the 300 works that span 12 installations are pretty breathtaking.

In Croatia, there’s an underwater winery called Edivo Vina. The wine is aged on land for three months. It’s then stored in clay jugs called amphorae, which are placed underwater for a period of one to two years.

And don’t let anyone tell you mermaids aren’t real, because professional mermaid is an actual job title. The mermaids-for-hire at Florida’s Weeki Wachee Springs State Park put on a dazzling underwater show 365 days a year. Of course, the job is very physically demanding. But competition is fierce because who wouldn’t want to be a mermaid for a living? Just watching is pretty cool too.

In one place, you can even live underwater—partially, at least! In Dubai, a development company launched partially submerged, three-story luxury floating villas. You certainly can’t beat the view!
