If the word on the street is true, Mindy Kaling is expecting her first child!
Multiple sources have confirmed that the 38-year-old star of Hulu’s “The Mindy Project” is indeed pregnant. It turns out the baby was a bit of a surprise, but a happy one at that.
Kaling, who previously dated her co-star from “The Office,” B.J. Novak, and more recently dated author Benjamin Nugent, is keeping mum about details regarding her pregnancy, including who the father is.
Some fans are wondering if the star is dating someone special, or if the “Wrinkle in Time” star decided to have a baby on her own.
In the past, Kaling has openly spoken about wanting to have a child, as well as fearing that she may be waiting too long to have kids. In her book “Why Not Me?” she is candid about this fear, writing: “What if my kids are really young when I die because I waited too long to have them?”
Many women can relate to this anxiety, even though research has shown that being an older mother actually comes with certain benefits for both mama and baby. No wonder the average age of first-time moms keeps climbing in the United States.
Kaling has been mum on the subject. Her last tweet, shared on July 17, was about “Game of Thrones.” Nope, no baby news here!

Still, social media is on fire with speculation about who the father might be and whether or not Kaling is having this child on her own, or with a partner.
Pregnancy is a special time in a woman’s life, so rather than gossiping about what may or may not be happening, let’s just give her the support, privacy and congratulations she so deserves. One thing is for absolutely certain: This baby is going to be so, so loved—not to mention probably talented and hilarious like her mom!
