Frances Bean’s Touching Message To Kurt Cobain On His Would-Have-Been 50th Birthday

Kurt Cobain would have turned 50 on February 20. ?

It has been nearly 23 years since musician and grunge icon Kurt Cobain tragically passed away.

Since his death, countless paintings, movies, books and songs have been created in his honor. But, no work of art is greater than the sweet tribute that his daughter, Frances Bean, recently shared on the occasion of what would have been the legend’s 50th birthday.

Frances shared a simple but heartbreaking note on her Instagram page that read:

“Today would have been

Your 50th Birthday

You are loved and you are missed

Thank you for giving me

The GIFT of life

Forever your daughter, Frances Bean Cobain”

Her grandma, Kurt’s mother, sent a touching text message in response to Frances’s message, which she sweetly shared with fans as well:

Frances was just 20 months old when her father committed suicide on April 5, 1994. Now 24 years old, she is a model, singer and visual artist. Interestingly, despite her love for her father, Frances confesses that she is not much of a fan of grunge. However, she is certainly following in her father’s footsteps as far as her love of music, unique fashion and independent spirit.

Doesn’t she look like the perfect mix of Courtney and Kurt? You can tell she has rock-star genes.

Frances divorced Isaiah after 21 months of marriage, saying that he will not have access to her late father’s massive estate, but she will be open to paying him spousal support. The pair famously wed without inviting Frances’s mother, Courtney Love, with whom Frances has long had a tumultuous relationship.

Courtney shared this image of a young Frances on Instagram, letting her know that her father would be so proud of the woman she has grown up to be.

“Remember when you were just a babe?” Love wrote. “Your daddy would be proud of you ! I love you to the moon and galaxies beyond bean xxxx mama.”

Aw. It looks the two have worked things out in recent months. In fact, they even worked together on a recent Burberry ad.

Yep, they are pretty much the coolest mother-daughter pair in existence. Glad they have each other…and hopefully they can bring each other comfort while they grieve and remember Kurt on this special day.
