Every year there comes a point, typically as the calendar draws closer to fall, when I pull out my crochet hooks and start to look for new patterns to help me whip up some short, easy projects. Ear warmers are perfect because they don’t require a lot of materials or time. Plus, they can be comfortably worn in fall and winter temperatures.

Ear warmers come in a wide variety of crochet patterns, but there’s one I’ve come across that is fit for royalty. Why wear an ordinary ear warmer on your head when you can crown yourself with glory?

Crochet blogger Erangi Udeshika shared this regal pattern on her site Crochet For You. Her Crochet Crown Earwarmer pattern is free for anyone to try! Udeshika’s design is versatile and adjustable, so you can make one for a child or an adult, and you can use any size yarn, according to the post. Simply choose what size you want to make and get stitching! It’s all in the pattern.

She posted a photo on her Facebook page so you can see the finished product and it’s so cute!

If you want to create this crochet crown, you will need the following items: 100 yards of medium/worsted weight yarn (look for #4 on the skein label), a size I (5.5 mm) crochet hook and a tapestry/yarn needle. That’s it!

This pattern is listed as an intermediate skill level because of the variety of stitches used in the pattern, including the chain stitch, slip stitch, single crochet, half-double crochet, double crochet and treble (triple) crochet. In addition to the free written pattern, Udeshika created a YouTube video tutorial to help stitchers along:

So, whether you’re making it for a little prince, young princess, beloved queen or just feel like dressing like royalty yourself, give this pattern a try.
