French bread taco pizza is an easy weeknight dinner the whole family will love

There are two things I require of the recipes that eventually make their way into my regular cooking rotation — they must be easy and they must be delicious. It’s an added bonus if my 5-year-old actually agrees to eat the finished product.

So I’m loving this recipe for French bread taco pizza, which is not only simple to make, but which combines two of my favorite foods. Well, three if you count the bread upon which all the delicious toppings are scattered. Carbs are, after all, my favorite food group.

Samantha from FIVEheartHOME put together this fantastic dinner idea that manages to combine both Taco Tuesday and Pizza Fridays. She got the idea after trying a deep-dish taco pizza while on vacation with her family. She knew she wanted to recreate the magic at home and, luckily for all of us, it ended up being easy as (pizza) pie.

Instead of rolling out pizza dough for that traditional pizza crust, all you need is a loaf of French bread. Then, you just layer on all your favorite taco toppings. In Samantha’s case, she used some leftover cheesy bean dip, salsa, taco-seasoned ground beef and cheese. Then she sprinkled lettuce, tomatoes, black olives and sour cream on top. Just thinking about it is making me drool.

After that, she only had to pop it in the oven for 10 minutes! You can find the full cooking instructions here.

If this recipe has you inspired to try out even more unconventional pizza recipes, there is no shortage of recipes out there. Guy Fieri included a recipe for s’more pizza (!) in one of his cookbooks. A recipe for a holiday cookie pizza exists. (Do you notice a trend here? I may or may not have a bit of a sweet tooth.) And if you’re craving something more savory, there’s always this recipe for a bacon and sausage breakfast pizza.

Is anyone else suddenly ravenous?
