We each may only have a birthday once a year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t eat birthday cake more often. In fact, Kellogg’s thinks we should all be enjoying it for breakfast.
Their latest invention? Froot Loops Birthday Cake! The cereal is strawberry-flavored with bright colors and sprinkles, just like a frosted birthday cake.
While the new cereal is in celebration of the third birthday of Froot Loops’ New York-based cafe, you don’t have to be in New York to get your hands on some. Kellogg’s has begun rolling it out to stores nationwide, and the company says it will likely be sticking around until the middle of next year.
You can of course simply eat this cereal like all other cereals — dry or in a bowl with milk — but if you want to take it up a notch, Kellogg’s shared some recipes that will make your mornings even more celebratory.
First, you’ll need to make strawberry cake milk:
Strawberry Cake Milk
- 2 cups whole milk
2 cups Birthday Cake Froot Loops
2 tablespoons strawberry powder
Soak the Froot Loops in the milk until the cereal is softened, 30-35 minutes. Strain through a sieve, reserving the milk. Whisk in the strawberry powder. Refrigerate until ready to use.
Then, you can make this celebratory bowl:
Happy Birthday KNYC! Bowl
- 1 ½ cups Birthday Cake Froot Loops
¼ cup mini marshmallows
¼ cup dehydrated strawberries
Strawberry cake milk
Pour it all in a bowl and enjoy!
If you want to celebrate even more (and why wouldn’t you?!), make yourself a cup of coffee and add some of Coffee mate‘s newest creamer flavor, red velvet. With notes of chocolate cake and a hint of cream cheese, your mornings will officially be all about cake.
Unfortunately, the red-velvet creamer won’t be in stores until September, so you’ll have to wait to combine that with your Froot Loops, but good things are worth waiting for.
Will you be trying the new Froot Loops birthday cake cereal to make your mornings extra special?
