So the movie has never been too far away from the stars’ minds.
Why Do We Have To Wait So Long For This Sequel?
Disney released the original “Frozen” back on November 27, 2013, meaning the sequel will premiere exactly six years later. Why such a long time?
First, making an animated film like this takes years. “Frozen” producer Peter Del Vecho said his role in the movie lasted more than two and a half years. From script changes and rewrites to storyboard creation through final editing, each piece takes a lot of time.
Bell addressed how long it took to even announce a sequel in her Collider interview.
The story is great, and they exude quality. What I know about that whole team is that they wouldn’t just put something out to put it out. That’s why it took them so long to even announce that we were doing a second one. Generally when you have a first successful movie you want to make a second one. It took them a while because they wanted to figure out what story they needed to tell and what would be important and engaging and I think they found it.
The original “Frozen” movie earned more than $1.2 billion dollars during its release and run in theaters worldwide. Disney seems intent to reach the high bar it set for itself. Now, with a release date, fans can start the official countdown to the next film.
