Disney Studios released the first preview trailer for the long-awaited “Frozen 2” as an early Valentine’s Day gift for fans of the popular film franchise.

The original “Frozen” was released in 2013 earned more than $1 billion in worldwide box office sales. In the six years since the first movie’s release, diehard fans have impatiently waited for a sequel to the story of Arendelle’s royal sisters Queen Elsa and Princess Anna. A movie short, “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” was released in 2017 along with the feature “Coco.” And, for those who simply couldn’t “Let It Go,” a Broadway musical based on the original movie opened in Feb. 2018 and continues today.

Well, the wait for the official “Frozen” sequel is almost over. “Frozen 2” is slated to open on Nov. 22, and based on the first look given to audiences from the trailer, Disney has some big adventures in store for Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Sven the reindeer and Olaf the snowman.

The entire original cast of “Frozen” has returned for the hotly anticipated sequel. Idina Menzel reprises her iconic role of Elsa. Kristen Bell returns as Anna. Jonathan Groff once again creates the voice for Kristoff, and Josh Gad lends his talents as the adorable Olaf.

The trailer doesn’t give a lot of information about the plot of the film, but it’s clear that there’s some trouble ahead for our heroes:

At the opening of the trailer, Elsa looks more like an action hero than a queen as she dashes into massive waves by using her ice powers. Meanwhile, Elsa’s sister Anna is seen grabbing a sword off of Kristoff and looks ready for a fight of her own at the conclusion of the trailer. It looks like something or someone has snuck up on her, Elsa and Kristoff, and our heroine is on the defense.

What happens? That remains to be seen. But clearly, neither she nor Elsa is embracing the stereotypical princess role in this sequel.

What are your thoughts on the trailer?
