A couple’s “first look” on their wedding day can help break the ice and calm down any pre-wedding jitters before the walk down the aisle. But for one Arizona bride, it was also a golden opportunity to pull a prank on her husband-to-be!

When Ean Goldberg turned around to see his bride Erin Goldberg (née Reilly) in her wedding attire for the first time at their November 11 Scottsdale wedding, he instead saw her decked out in glamorous hair, makeup…and old sweatpants!

Rather than put on her wedding dress, the 25-year-old bride donned sweats and her favorite Walmart cat T-shirt for their first few photos together. “I thought it would be really funny for Ean to turn around, expecting this huge moment of me looking gorgeous in my dress with my makeup and hair done, only to turn around and see me in one of my typically embarrassing casual outfits,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle.

Luckily, Ean Goldberg didn’t seem to mind and took it all in with a laugh. “I was smiling and facing the other way and was antsy, just so excited to turn around and see her,” he recalled. “And when I turned around, the first thing I said that went through my mind was, basically, ‘I should’ve expected that.’”

Wedding photographer Molly McElenney documented the funny moment for the couple and wrote on Instagram that it was the “BEST first look I’ve ever witnessed.”

“As soon as she told me about it, I knew we had to make room for it in the timeline because his reaction alone would be totally worth it,” said the Arizona-based photographer.

The couple went on to have a “real” first look with the bride wearing her wedding dress, but Erin says the first moment will always hold a special place in their hearts. The groom added: “Even in her cat shirt, sweatpants, and stupid slip-on shoes, she still looked drop-dead gorgeous.”

After the wedding, the couple went on a prank-free “mini-moon” in Sedona, Arizona. Congratulations to the happy couple!
