Get your low-carb fix with these super easy avocado chips

Amanda Stout

Whether you’re trying out the keto diet or just want to cut down on your carb or chip intake, there are plenty of healthy options out there. And best of all, you can actually make them yourself!

One option we love are avocado chips because, honestly, we’re always down to incorporate more avocado into our lives. If you’re interested in making your own, you can’t go wrong with these chips that feature avocado and Parmesan cheese as the stars of the show. Plus, they can be tailored to your taste in spices.

Low-Carb Avocado Chips with a Kick

For this version, you can start out with this recipe from Foodie Goes Primal and customize it to your tastes. It will make around 12 chips (depending on how big you make them), and take about 25 minutes total.

In my world, lemon and avocado are a match made in heaven. I love that these chips have a strong lemon flavor because of the use of lemon zest. I also like a spicy, smokey zing, so I chose to use a generous pinch of cayenne pepper and smoked paprika in my chips.

Chili powder would also be a nice addition. If you don’t like heat, you can always nix the cayenne and try adding cumin instead. I would also recommend tasting the mixture to make sure you like the spice level, and adjusting as needed.

When you scoop your finished mixture onto the parchment paper, make sure you leave at least a couple inches in between each one. This is important because your chips will spread. No one wants one giant avocado chip! (Or do they?)

As your chips approach the end of the baking time, you’ll definitely want to test their done-ness so you end up with chips that are as crisp as possible — but not burnt.

When the chips are done, just let them finish crisping up and top or dip as you please.
