Ghirardelli Now Has Low-Sugar And No-Added-Sugar Chocolate Chips

If you’re following the keto diet, eating a low-carb diet or are cutting out sugar, you might be missing out on chocolate. Not being able to enjoy chocolate doesn’t just mean not eating candy — it also means skipping out on baked goods like chocolate chip cookies.
You can add the latter back to your list of things you can enjoy again, as Ghirardelli Chocolate Company has just added two high-cacao content baking products to their lineup: low-sugar and no-sugar-added chocolate chips!
The new 72% cacao dark chocolate chips are made with 50% less sugar than regular semi-sweet baking chips, and the no-sugar-added unsweetened chocolate chips are made with 100% cacao — that’s it. You can find them in grocery stores nationwide now.
Ghirardelli says the new chocolate chips are made from sustainably sourced, top-quality cacao beans and can be used in any recipe as a substitute for regular chocolate chips.
If you want to make the entire cookie recipe low in carbs or sugar-free, you will have to make other adjustments as well, like using almond flour in place of regular flour and a sugar-free sweetener like Splenda instead of regular sugar.
Ghirardelli came up with a few recipes using the new products to get your baking started, including a bittersweet chocolate souffle that uses the 72% cacao chips and Ghirardelli ultra-dark chocolate brownies using the 100% cacao chips.
While these products are new to Ghirardelli’s lineup, there are other no-sugar-added chocolate chips on the market, like Lily’s, which makes chips in multiple flavors, including white and dark chocolate, mint and butterscotch.
