Snowopolis, an ice cream shop at the Anaheim GardenWalk located just outside of Disneyland in California, is serving an ice cream cone that brings new meaning to the concept of “rich desserts.” It’s a 24 karat gold leaf-wrapped soft serve ice cream in a pre-sprayed 24 karat gold dust waffle cone — truly a treat fit for royalty!
This extra-special dessert is priced at $14.95. While that seems a bit steep for an ice cream cone, think of it as an edible gold accessory instead!
If you’re concerned about the taste or the safety of eating gold, you’re in the clear. The trend of casting treats in gold is purely for aesthetics. Additionally, the gold used in edible products is essentially tasteless and is generally regarded as safe to consume in moderation.

“Most likely edible gold won’t be absorbed from the digestive system into the bloodstream, and therefore it will pass through the body and eliminated as waste,” registered dietitian Cynthia Sass explained to Food & Wine. “But this may depend on the size, amount, and frequency consumed.”
Translation: Don’t make golden treats an every-day indulgence — which will make them all the more special when you do have a shiny snack!

The sparkly cones debuted at Snowopolis on Feb. 23, and the following day this Instagrammer let his followers know the cones were sold out but set to be restocked on Sunday night:

If you can’t make it to Anaheim, but would still like to chow down on a gold snack, you still have time to make it to a Buffalo Wild Wings location. The sports bar chain is offering wings dusted in gold “glitter” during the entire month of February in honor of the 2018 Winter Olympics. (The “glitter” is actually flavorless sugar sprinkles, but it’ll be fun to pretend otherwise!)
