Here’s An Inspiring Bedtime Book To Read To Your Daughter
We know that reading to children is a great thing. Studies have found that reading to your kids can help improve overall reading skills including comprehension and imagination.
While there are endless options, this new book aims to break away from the gender stereotypes of many of the classic stories with a modern twist.
The book is called, “Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls” and the purpose of the book is to provide a modern bedtime that “reinvents fairy tales, inspiring girls with the stories of 100 great women from Elizabeth I to Serena Williams.”
The creators just launched a Kickstarter campaign to produce it.
Each story is written in the style of a fairy tale and provides full color illustrations to draw the kids into the stories of the great women.
The creators, Elena Favilli and Francesca, who are both females entrepreneurs in the children’s media industry, wanted to make the book because they felt it is important for girls to grow up with female role models.
According to their Kickstarter page, the founders, “realized that 95% of the books and TV shows we grew up with, lacked girls in prominent positions. We did some research and discovered that this didn’t change much over the past 20 years, so we decided to do something about it.”
And they apparently aren’t the only ones excited about this concept. Since launching their campaign on Kickstarter, they tripled their fundraising goal with still 20+ days still remaining.
