Grumpy Cat Has Nothing On This Grumpy Baby
Babies are known for being cute and happy, right? Well, not this one. No matter what his mom does, the boy rebels, refusing to smile.
It’s like watching an SNL sketch—this boy was cast to not smile, no matter what. And his mother tries.
She tickles him, makes faces, pushes his cheeks in, adjusts his eyebrows… it’s as though she’s testing his facial functioning, giving him some odd face massage, or testing his resistance to break character.
I’ll telling you, he must have gone to Juilliard in the womb. At long last, when his mother starts laughing at the boy’s stubbornness and (cute) angry face, he laughs—just for a second (so don’t blink!) but still.
Then he goes back to his unhappy face, and his mother goes back to attempting him to smile all over again. To no avail.
Before Grumpy Baby, there was Grumpy Dog (Earl).
Earlthegrump became renowned online when his owner, Derek Bloomfield of Iowa, posted a picture of Earl on Reddit.
He received over two million views and, as of this writing, earlthegrump has 26.8k followers on Instagram (from just 38 posts). Even though it looks like Earl never smiles, which is because of an underbite, his owner told the Mirror that he is very friendly.
A second generation puggle (his parents were crossbreeds, too), Earl is a pug and beagle mix.
“He is the most relaxed, content puppy either one of us [he and his girlfriend] has ever seen. Whenever he wants something he’ll calmly sit down and stare at us until we ask him the right question. Then he wags his tail in approval. He’s constantly trying to snuggle up to one of us and has us in constant fits of laughter through his facial expressions and mannerisms. He’s a daddy’s boy and loves to pick on his momma.” –Bloomfield said about earlthegrump
Bloomfield told the Mirror, “People usually say ‘Oh my God, he is so cute. Is he always that grumpy?’”
Of course, before Grumpy Dog, there was Grumpy Cat.
This ultra-popular, “sad” cat (aka Tardar Sauce) also has an Instagram page: 869k (!!) followers (from just 523 posts). His droopy eyes make him look like he stepped out of an animated movie and is about to start speaking, right?
Just yesterday, August 26th, it was announced that Grumpy Cat will be immortalized at Madame Tussauds. “This is truly an honor… I hate it,” said Grumpy Cat.
He will be animatronic and have five different movements. He will first appear in San Francisco, then five other cities in the U.S. Here he is modeling for his wax figure.
Before Grumpy Cat’s latest news, he recently landed a deal with Friskies as well. It seems like the feline has nothing to be grumpy about.
