Guy Fieri got a Hollywood star while Matthew McConaughey cheered him on

The mayor of Flavortown has joined one of entertainment’s most elite clubs. Guy Fieri, the fired-up host of Food Network shows like “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” and “Guy’s Grocery Games,” now has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

It’s honestly shocking that it’s taken the celebrity chef so long to get this honor because he’s been arguably the cable cooking network’s most recognizable personality for a decade.

One Hollywood A-lister who felt the honor was well-deserved was Fieri’s pal, Matthew McConaughey, who gave a speech at the ceremony on May 22.

“In a business where you can be anyone you want to be, you’ve been you the whole time” McConaughey told Fieri in his speech, according to Food & Wine.

Fieri then gave his own speech, and its tone stayed true to the upbeat personality he’s crafted over the years.

He pointed out that among the people he’s asked to attend the ceremony were “all the people that made this happen,” including his family, friends, mentors, business partners, fraternity brothers and even the guy who keeps his teeth pearly white. “My dentist is here!” he added.

In the end, he even thanked “the residents of Flavortown,” because, without them, he’d just be a regular old chef — with bright, spiky hair, of course.

Despite celebrity chefs having a major presence in American entertainment culture, the Hollywood Walk of Fame only has two others included among its stars. According to People, Fieri joined Bobby Flay and Wolfgang Puck as the only celebrity chefs with stars on the iconic landmark.

In addition to hosting several Food Network shows and appearing on others, Fieri, who is 51 years old, also owns several restaurants and has made himself into a brand all its own.

The past year has been a busy one for the chef. In July 2018, he announced he was opening his own restaurant at Disney World and in November he served dinner to emergency workers who were helping battle the California wildfires.

Congratulations to Fieri and all the proud residents of Flavortown!
