Guy who refuses to stop smoking by the gas pump gets sprayed with a fire extinguisher

We all know that gasoline and open flames make for a terrible combination. We’ve seen enough action movies to know that when gasoline is involved, all it takes is a small spark to set off a massive blaze. Which is why smoking near gas pumps is a major no-no.

So it’s understandable that this one gas station attendant got more than a LITTLE miffed when a smoker refused to put out his cig while pumping gas. As video of the incident shows, it looks like the attendant made he request verbally, but this bro just would not stop smoking. Nor would he, at the very least, walk away from the gas tanks to finish his cigarette.

What to do? Well, as you can see in the video below, the gas station attendant decided to take things into his own hands.

Wow. Yes, he really did just put out that guy’s cigarette with a fire extinguisher! And let’s just say that the internet is loving this gas station vigilante!

And some are pointing out that while getting soaked is no fun, something much worse could have happened:

However, believe it or not, there are actually some people who are defending the smoker! They say that it’s actually not that unsafe to smoke by a gas pump:

Could this be true? Well, it turns out the answer is… complicated, depending upon the temperature at which the cigarette is burning, oxygen levels, gasoline ignition temperatures, etc.

Still, it’s not unheard of for an errant spark to cause a heap of trouble. Don’t believe me? Here’s a video of an Australian man learning this lesson the hard way… he lights up by the gas pump and flames ignite in just seconds!

The bottom line is, why take the risk? And if an attendant asks you nicely several times to put out your cigarette, you better listen up… or be prepared to get wet!
