If you’re a celebrity, dressing as a character from one of your own movies for Halloween may seem conceited or even lazy to the average non-celebrity fan. On the other hand, you’re pretty much the only person who can pull it off your costume perfectly.
Just ask Gwyneth Paltrow.
The Oscar-winning actress could have easily gone as Pepper Pots from “Iron Man” or Margot Tenenbaum from “The Royal Tenebaums,” but she went a little darker this Halloween. She dressed as Tracy Mills, her character from the 1995 movie “Se7en.” Or rather, she dressed as Tracy Mills’ head.
“Se7en” features Kevin Spacey as serial killer John Doe, whose murders are each inspired by the seven deadly sins. Brad Pitt plays Detective David Mills, who is trying to catch Doe. Paltrow’s character is married to Mills and (SPOILER ALERT!), becomes one of Doe’s victims.
Her murder inspired a well-known line from Pitt’s career, “What’s in the box?!”
The answer? Just check out Paltrow’s costume to see for yourself:

That’s right, it was her head. Yikes! Told you no one could pull it off better than her!
FYI, the man playing Doe in the photo is Brad Falchuk, producer of “American Horror Story” and Paltrow’s boyfriend.
And while we’re on the subject of dressing like yourself from a ’90s movie, we just had to share Bette Midler’s costume from last year. She dressed up as witchy sister Winifred Sanderson from “Hocus Pocus,” elating fans everywhere.

Other 2017 Celebrity Costumes
While it’s not uncommon to see celebs dress up as their own characters on Halloween, they also like to dress up as other characters. After all, they have the best access to makeup and costumes, so they really should go all out!
For example, “Big Little Lies” star Zoe Kravitz and Karl Glusman threw back to another ’90s Brad Pitt movie with their costumes this year, going as characters from “Fight Club.”

And check out pregnant Jessica Alba channeling “Juno” for her costume. PERFECT!

And probably the funniest movie-inspired costume this year? Kristen Bell, who plays Anna in “Frozen,” dressed as Elsa instead. LOL.

Whether you’re a regular person dressing as a celeb, or a celeb dressing as a celeb, we hope you have a safe and happy Halloween!
