The new year is here, and it’s a great time for fresh starts. That includes your hair. If you’re itching to change up your look in 2019, check out these seven trends that are sure to be huge this year.

’60s Beehives

Go retro with this sophisticated updo that was popular in the “Mad Men” era.

“A trend I am seeing more of is the ’60s look, in particular bobs and beehives which were captured perfectly at the Moschino AW18 show,” Cheryl Munoz, style director of London-based Daniel Galvin salons, told Elle.

Bold Accessories

The devil will be in the details in 2019, so bring back those bobby pins and claws clips you rocked during the Spice Girls era.

“I love when hair accessories can be worn on their own and don’t require a ton of time styling the hair,” Tresemme celebrity stylist Justine Marjan told InStyle. “I love that 90’s glam/grunge rock is making a huge comeback, and I predict that we will see more of this style of accessories instead of boho/hippie during festival season.”

Vogue agrees that 1990s accessories will be back, as they were seen on the runway during Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2018–2019.

Blunt Bob

If you want to make a big change in the new year, a blunt bob could be just the ticket.

“For 2019, I think we will see a move away from shattered and layered hair towards a blunter, sharper finish,” celebrity stylist Zoe Irwin told Elle. “I envisage it being a shift away from the mid-length boyfriend bob, which was so popular last season, to something more precise and above the shoulder, roughly halfway between your ears and the nape of the neck.”

Cropped Bangs

If Pinterest has anything to say about it, “baby bangs” will be a go-to look for 2019. Searches for the style are up 51 percent on the site, according to Cosmopolitan. Colorist Hannah Hansen is expertly rocking the tiny fringe on Instagram:

Soft Babylights

If you’re over some of the more out-there hair color trends, natural shades are coming back into vogue.

“I think a big trend for 2019 will be natural-looking, soft highlights,” L.A. colorist Olivia Virden told Refinery29. “Bleached hair and single-process platinum was a huge trend, I think people will be softening their blonde this year.”

Sleek Blowouts

If you’re sick of messy hair, sleek styles will be back in this year. Super-smooth and shiny locks were spotted on the catwalks by Vogue at Fashion Week, and Munoz agrees that your blow dryer will get a lot of use in 2019.

Lilac Hair

Pale purple is the shade being searched for the most on Pinterest, so prepare for this pastel to be everywhere in 2019. The color looks gorgeous on a cropped pixie:
