This Harry Potter Yoga Class Is The Most Magical Idea Ever

There have been all sorts of new types of yoga popping up recently, but the latest version of the practice has to be our favorite: Harry Potter Yoga.

That’s right—two yoga teachers in Austin created a yoga class based on our favorite magical wizarding world to commemorate the anniversary of Lily and James Potter’s deaths on Oct. 30. Sisters Isabel Beltran and Ximena Larkin lead the class, where they handed wands out to each participant. The wand was incorporated into several of the poses while the sisters read aloud from “The Deathly Hallows.”

Each pose in the class was given its own Harry Potter twist: Cobra pose became Slytherin cobras, Warrior 2 signified Dumbledore’s Army, and chair pose was was reimagined as sitting on the Hogwart’s Express.

At the end of class, patrons covered themselves in their yoga blankets for savasana, except these yoga blankets were, for this very special class, invisibility cloaks and not just blankets. The class then finished off with Dumbledore’s parting words: “Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all, those who live without love.”

But the fun didn’t stop there: After the class, yogis were treated to sorting hat cookies, an adorable Mandrake garden, a potion station and other fun Harry Potter touches.

The Potter-themed class was held in place of the sisters regular “Pints & Poses” yoga class at the Circle Brewing Co. in Austin. And now for the best part? There’s another one scheduled on Nov. 20! If you’re anywhere near the Austin area, get yourself signed up here.

Yoga is relaxing on its own, but after hearing about this Harry Potter-themed class, we’re hoping more of those pop up around the country—this one sounded like a blast.
