Harry Styles And Stevie Nicks Sang ‘Landslide’ Together And It Will Give You Chills
We got goosebumps, did you?
Stevie Nicks (she of Fleetwood Mac) and Harry Styles (he of One Direction) are not a pairing that makes sense together at first glance. She’s known for soul-baring, passionate rock music, while he’s known for starting out in a world-famous boy band before branching into a solo career. She is 71 years old; he is just 25.
But it turns out that the two have a fantastic friendship and sometime professional collaboration, which Vulture says started back in 2015. In fact, they performed together in Italy at an event for Gucci on May 28.
Nicks and Styles sang the classic “Landslide,” which was released by Fleetwood Mac on its self-titled 1975 album, as well as “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” from her 1981 solo album Bella Donna (which was originally performed with her late friend Tom Petty).
The performance took place at the Musei Capitolini in Rome, during a celebration for Gucci’s 2020 cruise collection. (Styles has modeled for Gucci in the past, and he will be the face of the luxury brand’s unisex fragrance, Mémoire d’une Odeur, which debuts this summer.)
You’ll want to grab a box of tissues before listening to their “Landslide” duet (even if the audio isn’t that good!) because it’s quite beautiful. It was posted to YouTube by a user named Handsome Styles.
You can listen to clips from “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” here, at user @1d_uwu’s Instagram account:

So, what’s behind this odd couple’s friendship? Mutual respect for each other’s talent.
Styles gave a speech at Nicks’ induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in March 2019. (She was first inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of Fleetwood Mac in 1998 and was inducted as a solo artist this year.) During his speech, he praised her musical genius and her loving heart — warning, you’ll want to pick up that box of tissues again.
“She’s so wise and serene. She sees all the romance and the drama in the world and she celebrates it. She will stand on stage introducing a song, telling you how she wrote them — honestly — like you’re the only other person in the world,” Styles said in his tribute. “If you’re lucky enough to know her, she’s always there for you. She knows what you need, advice, a little wisdom, a blouse, a shawl — she’s got you covered. Her songs make you ache, feel on top of the world, make you want to dance, and usually all three at the same time. She’s responsible for more running mascara — including my own — than all the bad dates in history combined.”
Nicks has also praised the young singer. “He’s Mick [Fleetwood]’s and my love child,” she joked in a Rolling Stone interview from February 2019.
“When Harry came into our lives, I said, ‘Oh my God, this is the son I never had,'” Nicks continued. “So I adopted him. I love Harry, and I’m so happy Harry made a rock & roll record — he could have made a pop record and that would have been the easy way for him. But I guess he decided he wanted to be born in 1948, too — he made a record that was more like 1975.”
This is such an amazing intergenerational friendship, and we love to see their support for each other! Here’s to hoping we’ll also get more great musical collaborations from the two.
