This high school dance team’s Harry Potter routine is seriously good

The Walden Grove High School Performing Arts Crew is enjoying a second round of viral fame, this time for a “Harry Potter”-themed dance routine. Last year, the dance team from Sahuarita, Arizona went viral for a “The Wizard of Oz” routine strung together with dances to several pop songs like Katy Perry’s “Roar” and Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood.”

At their school’s homecoming assembly last month, they debuted their new magical dance routine and blew everyone’s minds. The six-minute performance looks like it took some serious practice. Dressed like Potter, the dancers touched on the character’s story arc, including his time living under the stairs, as a student at Hogwarts, learning to fly and his final showdown with Voldemort. For music, they used a dance remix of the “Harry Potter” theme song as well as pop hits like “Chun Li” by Nicki Minaj and “My House” by Flo Rida.

Check it out and you’ll see why it’s so popular:

“Hard work, dedication and never giving up,” coach and dance instructor Kristi Lopez told This Is Tuscon last year about the skills her dancers learn. “I always tell them to never get complacent, to outwork everybody around you no matter what everybody else is doing. That’s the biggest one. If people around you are being lazy, it doesn’t mean do it with them. Just work hard.”

It seems like the dance team has definitely taken Lopez’s advice to heart. This past summer, they appeared on “America’s Got Talent.” They were ultimately cut, but not before impressing judge Simon Cowell.

“You guys just light up the stage,” Cowell said following their audition.

How awesome! We can’t wait to see what this super-talented dance team does next!
