These hotels are known for looking after the world’s biggest stars — so have your autograph books and selfie sticks at the ready.
The Beverly Hills Hotel, Beverly Hills, California
One of the most famous hotels in the world (and reportedly the inspiration for the song “Hotel California” by The Eagles), The Beverly Hills Hotel on Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills is a favorite of Nicole Richie and has a long history of other famous guests, too, including Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.
Gramercy Park Hotel, New York
In the 1970s, New York’s landmark Gramercy Park Hotel was a hangout for stars like David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Blondie and the Rolling Stones, and to this day it attracts a number of celebrity guests. “Crazy Rich Asians” star Gemma Chan describes its private park, which is accessible only by key, as “an oasis in the city.”
Cheval Blanc St-Barth Isle de France
Pippa Middleton, Cindy Crawford, Leonardo DiCaprio and former “Grey’s Anatomy” star Patrick Dempsey are just a few of the stars who escape to St. Barths, a tiny island in the French West Indies, for some R&R. The 61-room Cheval Blanc St-Barth Isle de France, owned by the Louis Vuitton fashion house and recently redesigned by French interior designer Jacques Grange, is their hotel of choice.
The Bowery Hotel, New York
Located in New York’s hip East Village, The Bowery Hotel is a regular haunt of actress Kristen Stewart. Other celebrities who’ve rented rooms include Ashley Olsen, Blake Lively, Rachel Bilson and Kiefer Sutherland.
The Petit Ermitage Hotel, West Hollywood
Actor Idris Elba has a soft spot for The Petit Ermitage Hotel in West Hollywood, which travel club Mr and Mrs Smith describes as “an eccentric muddle of art, antiques, flora and fauna.” Elba knows all about its unique vibe.

The Maroma Resort & Spa, Riviera Maya, Mexico
The Maroma Resort & Spa, located on a white sandy beach and surrounded by exotic gardens, is a celebrity favorite on the Riviera Maya, Mexico. San Ysidro Ranch, Santa Ynez Mountains, California
A Travel + Leisure survey in 2017 deemed San Ysidro Ranch in the foothills of California’s Santa Ynez Mountains one of the most romantic hotels in the world, so it’s no surprise that it’s been the venue for celebrity celebrations for decades. Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh got married there, as did Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez. Other couples, including John F. and Jacqueline Kennedy and Julia Roberts and Danny Moder, spent their honeymoons there.

The five-star Hotel Raphael, located near the Arc de Triomphe, has an old-school elegance that makes it a go-to for discerning celebrities like John Malkovich.
“It is very quiet, not too big and still quite lovely,” the actor told The Telegraph. “Since I stayed there for the first time in 1985, it still has the same concierge, same bellboys, and same barman. I have stayed in a lot of terrific hotels, but this one remains consistently excellent.”
The Setai, Miami Beach, Florida
Before The Setai’s 40th-floor six-bedroom penthouse was sold to a private buyer for $27 million in 2013 — making it the most expensive condo ever sold in South Florida — it was a favorite spot for Madonna, as well as Simon Cowell and Jim Carrey. According to Conde Nast Traveler, Beyoncé and Jay-Z are also fans of this serene spot.
Sandy Lane Hotel, Barbados
Check in to the five-star Sandy Lane Hotel in Barbados and you might just bump into local girl Rihanna, who likes to head down there when she’s back home. And there’s no danger of her not getting a room because she bought a 10-square-foot, five-bed villa at the resort for $22 million in 2013. We don’t know if she parties with Simon Cowell and Tiger Woods while she’s there, but they’ve also stayed at the beachfront resort.
Delano South Beach, Miami, Florida
Known as “the hotel that changed South Beach forever,” the Delano South Beach is part of the portfolio of Ian Schrager, who’s perhaps most famous for managing Studio 54 in the late 1970s. As you’d expect, the luxurious Miami hotspot, which was designed by Philippe Starck, attracts a stylish crowd, including Calvin Klein (below), Oprah Winfrey and Madonna, who stays true to form and always rents the penthouse.
The Langham London, England, UK
Justin Bieber celebrated his 19th birthday at The Langham, dubbed Europe’s first “grand hotel” (though Bieber attracted the wrong kind of birthday attention when he attacked photographers snapping photos of him outside the hotel). “It’s such a secret, it’s so good,” she told InStyle. “It was an old monastery and was converted into a 32 bedroom boutique hotel, and it’s like having your own villa. It’s in a vineyard with tennis and a pool, and it’s one of the most romantic, special places I’ve ever been. Each room is totally different and unique, it’s great.”
Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, Antibes, France
The Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc on the French Riviera, which has a heated seawater infinity pool carved out of the bedrock, is legendary for its celebrity guests. Still so exclusive it’s not open to the public, the luxe Four Seasons Costa Palmas in Mexico (the first Four Seasons marina resort) has had a strictly A-list guest list so far, including Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk, Milla Jovovich and Colin Hanks. It finally opens in mid-2019, but if you want to join the Beach Club (where all the celebs hang out), you’ll need to buy a Four Seasons Private Villa (costing $5 to $21 million) or Residence ($1.6 million to $6 million), plus pay founding membership dues of $100,000 and annual fees of $25,000.
