Fall is a great time to make holiday crafts, and if you’re sick of making the same old jack-o’-lantern, you might want to consider getting a little more creative and kicking your pumpkin decorating up a notch. This Melted Crayon Pumpkin craft from Crafty Morning creates stunning multicored pumpkins that will definitely have the kids excited and your guests impressed — and you won’t have to worry about the messiness of pumpkin pulp going everywhere.

All you need is a pumpkin, some glue, crayons and a blow dryer. You can use as many colors as you want, or you can color coordinate each pumpkin — feel free to get creative! Lighter, white pumpkins work best, as the colors show up more vividly, but you can use an orange pumpkin as well.

All you have to do is glue your crayons (make sure to remove the paper labels before you do this) around the top of a pumpkin, then use a blow dryer to apply heat to the crayons. This melts the wax, which causes the candles to drip down the side of the pumpkin. The result is a slightly messy but artistic-looking rainbow pumpkin that’s both fun to make and beautiful once it’s finished.
