Harry Potter fans—Here’s how to order a Hot Butterbeer Latte from Starbucks’ ‘secret’ menu

There a few things that top every Harry Potter fan’s bucket list. Sadly, it still isn’t possible (yet) for mere muggles to attend wizarding school or fly on a broomstick. But thanks to the Starbucks “secret” menu, we can all get a little taste of wizardry in real life — trip to a Wizarding World of Harry Potter not required.

If you’re in the know, you can order a Hot Butterbeer Latte at your local Starbucks!

Intrigued? Thought so.

How To Order A Butterbeer Latte

Here’s what you do: Order a whole milk steamer and then add toffee nut, caramel and cinnamon dolce syrups. The drink can be made with or without espresso. Garnish with whipped cream and salted caramel pieces or the caramel brûlée topping and voila, you’ll be transported to Hogwarts as you sip on your warm, sweet butterbeer.

That sounds delicious whether or not you’re a Harry Potter fanatic!

Other Harry Potter fans have concocted tweaks on that basic recipe to get the butterbeer of their dreams from the coffee giant. Twitter user @SirenSirius posted her order with a blonde latte as a base.

Similarly, the Butterbeer Frappuccino is a fun frozen spin on the magical drink. Ask for a Creme Frappuccino with whole milk. Then, add in caramel and toffee nut syrups. Finally, top it off with whipped cream and a caramel drizzle.

In 2016, Potterheads went crazy for the Smoked Butterscotch Latte, which many said reminded them of butterbeer.

Maybe Pumpkin Juice Is More Your Speed

Pumpkin Juice may not have quite the cache of butterbeer, but it’s also  available on the secret menu.

Order an iced apple juice with pumpkin spice sauce. Ask the barista to pour apple juice to the top line and add one-and-a-half pumps of sauce for a tall, two pumps for a grande and three pumps for a venti before filling with ice.

Since Pumpkin Spice Lattes only make their appearance at Starbucks in the fall, it’s likely this Harry Potter beverage isn’t one you’ll be able to enjoy there year-round.

So there you have it—a range of Harry Potter-themed drinks for all Starbucks devotees. Sip on these sweet treats and before you know it you’ll feel like you’re a proper, wand-carrying member of Hogwarts.

How To Make Your Own Butterbeer

If Starbucks isn’t your thing or you prefer to make your own coffee beverages at home, well, look no further than this recipe for make-your-own frozen butterbeer. The blogger behind Princess Pinky Girl created a copycat recipe based on the butterbeer that’s served cold at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando.

Her recipe calls for vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, imitation butter, butterscotch sauce (of course) and a handful of other ingredients. Get the full set of instructions on her site. We’re drooling already.

By the way, this recipe can be served with or without alcohol. It’s believed the butterbeer in the Potter books had a very low alcohol content to begin with.
