Could The Mermaid Frappuccino Be The Next Unicorn For Starbucks?

Looks like Starbucks is making good on its promise to roll out more quirky drinks—or at least its baristas are!

First came the Unicorn Frappuccino, then a clever barista introduced the Dragon Frappuccino. And if you thought there wasn’t a drink that could top those—guess again. Just in time to gear up for summer, there’s a Mermaid Frappuccino at Starbucks. You’re definitely going to want to make this your new go-to drink order.

Not only is this beverage inspired by the mystical sea creature, it’s also filled with delicious ingredients. So, you might actually enjoy this drink more than the odd sweet and sour Unicorn version.

How dare I speak ill of Unicorn Frapp? I know, I know. But, hear me out. According to Cosmopolitan, this drink is made with a Vanilla Bean Frappuccino as a base. Then, you add blackberries and a drizzle created with white mocha flavoring, toasted coconut flavoring and matcha powder. The Starbucks Melody website suggests having the whipped cream topped with matcha powder if your barista doesn’t want to go to the trouble of making the drizzle.

When the masterpiece is complete, you’re left with a beautiful purple and green drink. It appears to be both ocean-inspired and mermaid-worthy. The green color could pass as the seaweed in your ocean landscape-turned-Starbucks drink, but the best part of all is that it will taste like a chocolate-coconut-matcha treat. And honestly, that doesn’t sound bad to me!

According to Refinery 29, you have none other than a Starbucks barista and blogger, Jocelyn Freeman, to thank for bringing the next Starbucks sensation to life. Thanks, Jocelyn!

Whether you’re purchasing mermaid drinks or just sticking with The Pink Drink, you know, since it’s an official menu item now, you’re destined to drink colorful creations from Starbucks this season.
