How To Get A Free $15 Build-A-Bear Workshop Coupon
There were such long lines at the "Pay You Age" deal this week that stores had to close! They're offering this coupon to make up for the chaos.
The products and services mentioned below were selected independent of sales and advertising. However, Simplemost may receive a small commission from the purchase of any products or services through an affiliate link to the retailer's website.
Unfortunately, sometimes, great ideas don’t always work out. After an amazing “Pay Your Age” deal at Build-a-Bear didn’t exactly go as planned, the company is apologizing to disappointed kids and parents by offering a coupon that can be used at a later date.
The concept was simple enough: Head to Build-A-Bear, have your kid make a stuffed animal of their choice and you pay whatever age your kid is. Have a 4-year-old? Just $4 for a new furry friend!
As you may have expected with such a great deal, however, things got a little out of hand. Lines ended up being so long that they had to be closed due to crowd safety concerns. It was pure chaos at some stores!
Per local authorities, we cannot accept additional Guests at our locations due to crowd safety concerns. We have closed lines in our stores. We understand some Guests are disappointed and we will reach out directly as soon as possible. https://t.co/aSFfPCcfsG pic.twitter.com/WZJ53tOAEH

For those who had already been waiting in line for hours, the news that they would not be building a bear was pretty disappointing. Build-a-Bear CEO Sharon Price John took to the “Today Show” to apologize, saying it was “heartbreaking” to see excited children be turned away from the event.
So, Now What?
To make it up to those that didn’t get a new furry friend, Build-A-Bear is offering a $15 coupon to all their rewards members. It appears that includes everyone, even if you haven’t signed up yet. All you have to do is sign up for a Build-A-Bear Rewards account, which is free. You’ll get some other perks for signing up, too, like points for every dollar you spend, early access and special offers.
A Few Details To Keep In Mind
The coupon is valid in-store only through Aug. 31, so you’ll have plenty of time to get the discount. The deal is limited to one per account, however, so if you have more than one child, you will need someone else to also sign up for a membership.
You must log into your account by midnight on July 15 and either screenshot or print the coupon.
Our first-ever Pay Your Age Day event generated an overwhelming response resulting in long lines, extensive waits, and disappointed Guests. We understand that many Guests were turned away due to safety concerns created by the crowds when authorities in certain locations closed Build-A-Bear stores or we were forced to limit the line. Given these circumstances we were unable to serve all of our Guests for the event. In response, we distributed vouchers to Guests who were present in line to be redeemed for a future purchase and have now made vouchers available to all U.S. & Canadian Bonus Club members which must be screen shot or printed by logging into your account before midnight on 15 July. We encourage all of our valued Guests to visit our full statement and download the voucher on our website and we’d like to reiterate our sincerest thanks for your passion and continued support!
Some stuffed animals are around $15 or less, so there is a chance you can get one for free with the coupon if it is in stock at your location. Accessories are not included in the discount, and some stuffed animals are more than $15, so be sure to keep that in mind.
Will you be taking advantage of this deal and helping your child build a new furry friend?
