While the holidays are a joyous time of the year, they can also be incredibly stressful and busy — so busy, in fact, that it can often be hard to find time for simple things like eating.
Of course, being hungry while going to a party or decorating for Christmas can make you downright hangry, so Snickers has come up with their own way to battle those moments when hunger turns into anger. Using their so-called hunger algorithm, the “Hungerithm,” Snickers says they’ll be detecting the hanger level of the internet until Dec. 31 and will adjust the price you’ll be paying for a Snickers bar in real time. As hanger increases, the price of a Snickers decreases.
It has to be the only time being hangry has ever been a good thing!
How does it work? According to a press release about the promotion, the algorithm checks social media posts for a list of more than 3,000 commonly used words and phrases to determine how people are feeling. Snickers says the Hungerithm even understands sarcasm and slang words and phrases. The Hungerithm site then changes the price of a Snickers bar based on just how hungry (or hangry!) the internet is.
For a discounted Snickers, just visit the Hungerithm website on your phone and keep an eye on the price, then click “Get a Snickers” when you see a price you like. You’ll then get a coupon on your mobile device (using your laptop or desktop doens’t work) for the price you locked in, which you can then take to a participating 7-Eleven store to get your discounted Snickers.
The promotion runs through Dec. 31. Sounds like a good way to keep the hanger at bay over the holidays!
