How to request shows on Netflix

Have you ever been frustrated to find that your favorite show isn’t streaming  on Netflix? Whether it’s a guilty pleasure like “Real Housewives” or some “Peppa Pig” for your kids to watch while you enjoy 30 minutes of quiet time, it’s always disappointing when the ‘Flix can’t deliver.

But here’s the good news: If Netflix can’t fulfill your entertainment dreams, you can put in a special request! Yep, you read that right. Netflix takes requests! Here’s how to submit one:

  1. Go to the Help Center.
  2. Go to the right hand side of the screen and click “Request TV Shows or Movies.”

Now, simply type in your requests. You can do up to three at a time. But, remember, this isn’t like a high school election for prom queen! You can’t just keep stuffing the ballot box and racking up more “votes” for your favorite forgotten television shows (anyone hoping for “Party of Five” or “Moesha”?). Netflix will only keep track of one vote for a show per account, so requesting it a single time is all you have to do.

But, there is some bad news: Not every show is going to be up for grabs. There’s a complicated process that happens behind the scenes in which Netflix has to make a deal with content owners, so even if a show is widely beloved and requested, it doesn’t mean that Netflix will necessarily be able to provide it. And once Netflix makes a deal with content owners, they don’t own a show forever. Netflix only gets the rights for a period of time, which is why shows sometimes disappear after a while.

Speaking of which, here are some of the shows and movies that are going to be leaving Netflix this month: “Step Up,” “The Wedding Planner,” “Jurassic Park,” “Cujo” and every season of “Scrubs.” So, better get your binge on while you can!

Not to worry, though, you can expect some fresh titles soon, including new seasons of “House of Cards,” “Bloodline,” and “Sense8.”
