How many times have you settled in to watch a movie with a friend or family member, only to find yourself distracted by your phone? Not only are you missing the movie, but you’re missing out on memories you can create by watching films together.

Redbox is looking to change that by asking fans to “go back to the movies” by turning off phones, putting away laptops and picking out a favorite film. In turn, Redbox is offering up a free DVD rental or 50 percent off an on-demand rental.

All you have to do to score your free or discounted movie is “take the pledge” on the Redbox Blog. You will then be sent a code via text that is valid to apply to a rental on Sunday, Oct. 28, only. By entering your phone number, you will also begin receiving automated messages from Redbox, but you can text “stop” to cancel.

When renting Redbox movies from a Redbox location, the pricing for DVDs starts at $1.75 and they must be returned within 24 hours to avoid a late fee. On-demand rentals start at $2.99 and you must start watching the movie within 30 days of renting and finish watching within 48 hours of starting it.

Being the last weekend before Halloween, if you’re looking for something spooky to use your code on, Redbox has a ton of scary movies both on-demand and in the box. From classics like “Hocus Pocus” and “The Shining” to new films like “A Quiet Place,” “Winchester” and “Hereditary,” you’ll definitely be able to find something to make your Sunday scarier.

Will you be watching a scary film from Redbox this weekend just in time for Halloween?
