Husband Gets Whole Town To Deliver 500 Roses To His Wife On Her Last Day Of Chemotherapy

I hope you have some tissues handy. There’s no way you’re going to make it through this touching story without shedding a tear or two (or, you know, even more than a few).

This husband went to great lengths to commemorate the last day of chemo treatment for his wife.

Husband Asks Town To Help His Wife Celebrate

Alissa Bousquet is fighting breast cancer, and her husband, Brad, wanted to do something extra special for her after completing such a huge step in the recovery process. So he asked their Nebraska community to help him shower her in roses. And shower her they did!

His generous gift showed not just how much he cared, but also how much support the entire town was ready to provide for Bousquet and others battling or effected by breast cancer.

Money Raised Went To Support Breast Cancer Research

After contacting the local florist, Brad Bousquet set it up so that roses would be sold for $10 a piece. All proceeds went to the Susan G. Komen foundation.

Word spread and on the last day of chemotherapy, 500 roses were delivered to his wife and $4,500 was donated to the foundation in Alissa’s name, according to the Huffington Post.

“I was amazed when the orders started rolling in! We quickly reached 100 roses, then 300 roses, then 400. When we reached 500 roses I told the flower shop to stop ordering roses and let all the remaining orders go entirely to the Susan G. Komen donation,” Brad wrote on Facebook.

“She has amazed me with her strength, courage, and positive attitude through it all. She still has a few surgeries ahead of her but completing chemotherapy is huge milestone in her journey,” he wrote on YouTube.

“I wanted to do something special during this last treatment to celebrate the end of her chemo and to show her the tremendous love and support she has from her friends and family.”

And I’d say he did a pretty great job of doing just that.

The couple recently celebrated 20 years of marriage.

Aren’t they adorable?

A Push For Early Detection

Bousquet also pointed out that without a mammogram, his wife may not be alive today and stressed the importance of early detection.

Now, tell me that doesn’t bring a smile to your face and a tear to your eye. *Blows nose*
