Husband Celebrates Splash Mountain ‘Angry Wife’ Photo One-Year Anniversary With Sweet Tribute

Love What Matters/Facebook

One year ago, Steve Alexander posted a picture of his “angry wife,” Jordan, on Walt Disney World’s Splash Mountain.

He had no idea the media splash that simple post would make.

“Angry” Photo Goes Viral

If you’re on social media at all, you probably remember the famous picture.

According to the story, Splash Mountain is Jordan’s favorite Walt Disney World attraction. But, by the time she and her family reached the water ride, her husband, Steve, was not in the mood to ride.

“I was tired,” he told Syracuse.com. “I didn’t have it in me. She went on the ride alone and when she came back, she showed me the photo and was like, ‘I did this for you.'”

This annoyed Jordan because the last time they visited the Magic Kingdom, she couldn’t ride Splash Mountain because she was pregnant. So this trip, she was extra excited to go on the ride with her husband.

Steve couldn’t be convinced, though. Jordan decided to go on her own, but thought she’d have a little fun at her husband’s expense. During the ride photo, Jordan made an angry face to show her “displeasure.” At the end of the ride, she snapped a photo of the image on her phone and showed it to Steve.

He thought it was so funny, he shared it on social media. The rest, as they say, is history.

His wife quickly became the “Angry Splash Mountain Lady” and the subject of countless internet memes. Jordan even created her own Instagram account @angrysplashmtnlady to show she was a good sport.

Husband Marks Photo Anniversary With Touching Story

One year later, Steve and Jordan Alexander still laugh about the sensational photo, and Steve marked the occasion by sharing a touching story on the Love What Matters Facebook page.

Get out the tissues. It turns out there was more to the story than just an angry lady on a ride.

Steve shared a sweet tribute to Jordan, whom he says he met just as he was about to start dialysis after his transplanted kidney started to fail. She stood by him through his sickness.

“She carried me when I was at my weakest, and believed in me when others told her not to get tied down to someone so sick,” Steve wrote. “So, the world sees a silly picture of an angry lady on Splash Mountain, but I see the funny, smart, intelligent and beautiful woman who carried me through life, and I love her more than anything… The truth is, I’d ride into anything or climb any mountain with and for her. She’s given me life, two beautiful kids, and the greatest life a guy could ever ask for.”

Happy viral anniversary to the Alexanders! Here’s to many more magical memories!
