IKEA Is Fighting Blanket Hogs With This Unique Duvet Idea
No one likes a blanket hog. Few things are more annoying than a sleeping buddy who steals your half of the blankets at night, leaving you cold and restless! Not to worry, my blanket loving friends, IKEA has the answer to your sleeping problems.
According to their research on British people’s sleeping habits, 45 percent of them endured sleepless nights to allow their partners to be comfortable. Moreover, 55 percent said they could not get comfortable, with 39 percent being either too hot or cold and 21 percent being kept awake by loud snoring. That left 10 percent bothered by blanket hogs.
Here’s one solution: IKEA’s “TOG-ether bundle” which features two single duvets instead of just one. It is inspired by the traditional Swedish way of sleeping, where people still sleep side-by-side but each underneath their own smaller duvets. The company sold their “TOG-ether bundle” at stores in the UK between Jan. 27 and 28.
“Many of us find that not getting a good night’s sleep is becoming a regular occurrence,” said Carol McSeveny, Ikea UK & Ireland’s textiles leader, according to Mashable. “This is why we have introduced this traditional Swedish sleep trend of using two single duvets instead of a double, in UK stores for a short period, allowing couples to select a duvet from the bundle that suits them.”

UK shoppers were able to choose TOG ratings for each cover, allowing each person to decide how thermal they wanted their covers to be. The duvets are made of a breathable fabric, allowing for a cozy, dry sleep thanks to its usage of the moisture-wicking materials lyocell and polyester in the filling.

We would love it if IKEA brought their “TOG-ether bundles” to the United States, because we’ve definitely got some blanket hogs over here, too!
