6 facts to know about Meghan Markle’s wedding dress
The day that royal-watchers have been waiting for has arrived: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are now a married couple — and we finally got to see Meghan Markle’s wedding dress!
While a modest gown with sleeves was predicted for her wedding dress, here are six interesting things to know about it.
1. It Was Designed By A Woman
Givenchy’s Clare Waight Keller designed the gown Markle wore for her wedding to Prince Harry at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.
Waight Keller is the first female artistic director of the French fashion house, and is a fitting choice for Markle, who identifies as a defender of women’s rights.
2. Her Veil Was 16 Feet Long
Markle wore a 16-foot-long veil and a tiara over a loose bun. Twin brothers Brian and John Mulroney had the honor and duty of carrying the long train into the church and down the long aisle as the bride made her entrance into the church.
3. The Number Of Flowers On Her Veil Is Symbolic
The silk tulle veil has a trim of hand-embroidered flowers, representing the flora of each of the 53 countries of the Commonwealth.
Ms. Markle expressed the wish of having all 53 countries of the Commonwealth with her on her journey through the ceremony. Ms. Waight Keller designed a veil representing the distinctive flora of each Commonwealth country united in one spectacular floral composition.

Waight Keller is British, and previously lead two other fashion houses.
“Ms. Markle also wanted to highlight the success of a leading British talent who has now served as the creative head of three globally influential fashion houses — Pringle of Scotland, Chloé, and now Givenchy,” a palace statement read.

5. Markle Has Worn A Bateau Neckline On Official Palace Business In The Past
She wore the look during a visit to Wales with Prince Harry back in January.
6. Her Tiara Was Made In 1932
Markle chose Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau tiara, which was lent to her by Queen Elizabeth II.
