The talents and skills of British heavy metal band Iron Maiden are not limited to rocking out. The band members are also huge fans of beer and brewing, as evidenced in 2013 when they released their first official beer, called Trooper.

With the success of Trooper, which is estimated to have sold over 15 million pints, as well as a couple of limited edition beer releases in the years following, Iron Maiden has become nearly as popular among craft beer aficionados as they are with heavy metal fans. So this next bit of news should be exciting.

Iron Maiden has finally brewed up its second official beer. This one is called Hallowed, and it came about as a partnership between Robinsons, a British brewery, and Iron Maiden’s lead vocalist Bruce Dickinson. Robinsons’ master brewer Martyn Weeks assisted Dickinson in creating the new beer, which will be much different than their previous concoctions. This time around, Weeks and Dickinson used Belgian yeast to create a Belgian-inspired beer with a 6 percent alcohol content by volume. Oh, and the bottle is just as cool as you might imagine:

“Belgian yeast yields a very distinct taste and presentation,” Weeks said in a statement. “You can sniff out a Belgian beer simply from its aromas: fruity, spicy and earthy. Belgian yeasts withstand higher alcohol levels, they attenuate well and create an array of phenolics and esters… put simply, this means more flavor and I think Hallowed drinkers are in for a treat.”

Hallowed will be available for four months starting in October of this year, which sounds like perfect timing to enjoy the spicy, earthy flavors. The fall launch also means you can add Hallowed beer to your list of holiday gift ideas for the people in your life who are big fans of heavy metal music and high-quality craft brews.
