J.K. Rowling Just Announced More ‘Harry Potter’ Spinoff Movies

The November release date for “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is right around the corner. Fans haven’t even seen the first movie, yet they’re sure to go nuts over J.K. Rowling’s most recent announcement. She’s confirmed there will be five movies in this series. Yep! Count ’em, five.

According to Insider, she had previously said this series would be a trilogy. But, that was more of a “placeholder,” she’s now said. “I’ve now done the plotting properly, so we’re pretty sure it’s going to be five movies,” Rowling said in a panel discussion about the movie.

The first film will be set in the 1920s and focus on the American magic community, namely on the adventures of a wizard named Newt Scamander, who is played by Eddie Redmayne.

This may be a spinoff of the “Harry Potter” series and J.K. Rowling’s first go at being a screenwriter, but if this story is anywhere near as good as the story of Harry Potter and friends, well, it’s going to have quite the reception.

She may not ever be able to top “Harry Potter,” but I have a feeling Rowling’s got a lot more storytelling inside of her that’s just dying to get out.

If you doubt her abilities to make the “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” plot sustain the length of five movies, she took to Twitter to assure you otherwise.

“I think, when you realize what story we’re *really* telling, you’ll understand that it can’t possibly fit in one movie,” she wrote. Even her tweets are intriguing!

And when it comes to creating a series, no one does it quite like this author. So, I’d take her word for it. These are going to be five movies that you just won’t be able to resist.
