James Corden sang with the Backstreet Boys in Las Vegas and absolutely killed it

Talk show host James Corden shows off his singing abilities in his “Carpool Karaoke” segments — but just because you can sing in the car doesn’t mean you have what it takes to be a Backstreet Boy.

But when Corden showed up in Las Vegas, where the band is currently performing nightly as part of a residency, he may have proven every disbeliever wrong.

In fact, not only did Corden step in and sing with the band. He also called the shots for a bit. He took band member Brian Littrell’s place for the evening — at least, that was his plan — and rehearsed with the band before they hit the stage in Vegas. He even came up with a few of his own original dance moves and worked to make sure the Backstreet Boys had the moves down before the concert began. And while it’s not easy single-handedly taking over a boy band, Corden proved to be the right man for the job.

Of course, it was all in good fun, and the band members proved to be great sports about the entire situation. And when it came time to actually perform for fans, Littrell was, of course, there for the fans’ sake, making Corden an added bonus.

Watch the hilarious series of events unfold in the video below:

Corden likely checked off a major bucket list item performing “Larger Than Life” with the Backstreet Boys, and it was nice of them to play along so Corden could feel like part of the band.

Corden showed his gratitude via “The Late Late Show” Twitter account:

“Thank you @backstreetboys for letting @JKCorden feel larger than life for a night,” the tweet read.

This isn’t the first time the Backstreet Boys have had some fun with late night show hosts, either.

While promoting their Las Vegas residency, Nick Carter, AJ McLean, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell showed off just how skilled they are when they sat down with Jimmy Fallon of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” to perform “I Want It That Way” using classroom instruments:

Pretty impressive! Seriously — is there anything they can’t do?

The band will be back and just as good as ever as they headline at The Zappos Theater in Las Vegas. Their shows will run through April 2019, according to caesars.com, so be sure you make your way to Vegas if you want the chance to relive the 1990s and see this band together again!
