Strollers recalled because of entrapment and strangulation hazard

If you have little ones in a stroller, you’ll want to check out your baby’s ride right now. Jané is recalling about 800 of its Muum strollers due to the risk of entrapment and strangulation.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued the recall because the Muum stroller is in “violation of the federal stroller and carriage safety standard.”

Due to the design of the stroller, a baby could potentially slip through the opening between the stroller armrest and the seat bottom. As a result, the infant’s head and neck can get trapped by the armrest, causing entrapment and a possibility of strangulation.

Recalled Stroller Details

The recalled Jané Muum strollers are U.S. models that have “a black frame, a reclining seat or hammock that is reversible and a hood. An insert is sold with the stroller for smaller babies,” according to the CPSC. An underside storage basket is also included beneath the stroller seat.

The recalled strollers were sold in: dark gray and black (S85), light grey and black (S49), blue and black (S46) and green and black (S47).

“Muum by Jané” is printed on the front bottom frame. “Muum” is printed on the side frame and on the handle. “Jané” and “Muum,” “Jané USA LLC,” “Muum US 5399US/S85” or “S47,” “S49,” “S46” are printed on a label on the leg of the stroller.

The good news about this stroller recall is that the CPSC has not received any reports of injuries related to this possible hazard.

The following stores sold the recalled Jané Muum strollers (priced between $300 and $450) between July 2016 and August 2017, according to the CPSC.

The CPSC statement stated parents can use the recalled stroller if they remove the recalled armrest and use the stroller’s harness to secure the child safely inside.

Then, contact Jané to order a free replacement armrest. The easiest way is to fill out the form on the company’s website. Customers can also call Jané toll-free at 844-200-7971 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. EST Monday through Thursday for a live operator, or leave a message if it’s outside those hours.

About 1,700 of these blue wooden toy cars were sold in the U.S. and approximately another 350 in Canada. The CPSC recall alert reports the car’s wheels and axels can detach from the toy car, posing a choking hazard.

The Porsche crest is printed on the front of the recalled toy cars. And the name “PORSCHE” is printed on both sides of the cars. They measure about 4 inches long by 2 inches wide by 1 1/2 inches tall. The underside of the toy has “BAJO” and a lot number printed on it. The following lot numbers are included in this recall:
