Janet Jackson Confirms That She’s Pregnant With Her First Child At Age 50

At an age where many of us slow down and look back at diapers as a thing of the past, Janet Jackson—at age 50—has just announced that she’s pregnant with her first child.

In a recent interview with PEOPLE magazine, Janet Jackson said she is “excited” for the birth of her first child, officially confirming her pregnancy after months of speculation.

“We thank God for our blessing,” Jackson said. The article includes a photo of Jackson dressed in white with a visible baby bump.

Back in April, the pop star announced on Twitter that she was postponing her “Unbreakable” World Tour in May to focus on family matters with her husband Wissam Al Mana. In the video, she says there was a “sudden change” in plans, but in a good way.

“I thought it was important that you be the first to know,” the pop star said in the video. “My husband and I are planning our family.”

She also said that she would postpone the rest of her tour, which was in its second leg. “Please, if you can try and understand it’s important that I do this now. I have to rest up, doctor’s orders. I have not forgotten about you. I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can,” she said in the video.

After the announcement on Twitter, Jackson and her husband have kept a low profile until the recent interview with PEOPLE. Even before the interview, she was “super excited about her pregnancy,” a source close to the Jackson family previously told PEOPLE. The source also said Jackson was “doing extremely well” and felt “very good about everything.”

No word on the exact due date, but the baby is expected to arrive soon.
