On behalf of all the everyday husbands who are doing our best to keep our marriages interesting during this year of no fun, I just want to thank Jason Momoa for making us look like jerks.

It’s not just that he’s a sweet dad, has great hair, is totally ripped and has an admirable relationship with his wife’s ex-husband, but it turns out he’s also a master gift-giver.

The “Aquaman” star recently took it upon himself to surprise his wife, actor Lisa Bonet, with one heck of a grand gesture. He had her first car fully restored and documented the entire process, including her stunned reaction, in a YouTube video that is well worth your seven minutes.

The video starts with Momoa rhapsodizing about the magic of a first car, saying, “I know we can’t relive a memory, but maybe we can rebuild one.”

The ride in question is a 1965 Ford Mustang convertible that Bonet apparently bought when she was 17 years old. Momoa says in the video that it was one of only three of its kind ever made, making it a genuine challenge for the crew he hired. The job went to Misha Munoz and his team at Divine 1 Customs in Las Vegas, and they didn’t let anyone down.

In the video, you see that the car looked like a rusty white heap when Momoa first brought it into the shop, with a tattered top, worn-out seats and grungy machinery under the hood. Munoz’s crew took the car completely apart, leaving no bolt unturned as they brought it back to life. You see them reupholster the seats, restore the original gauges, replace the engine and put a brand-new top on it as the clip progresses.

When Momoa comes to pick it up, he finds a sleek thing of beauty. Bonet’s reaction to seeing her old ride in all its glory more than 30 years after she first got it is also fantastic. It looks like she can hardly believe what she’s seeing.

“Holy cow. That is gorgeous,” she says when it’s revealed to her.

The video ends with the pair taking a ride together and sharing a sweet kiss. Check the whole thing out here.

Sheesh. Can this guy tone it down a notch or 12 for all of us regular spouses?
