Jason Momoa took his kids to see ‘Lion King’—and he had the sweetest reaction to the movie

The 6-foot, 4-inch actor Jason Momoa may seem big and tough, but he’s really just a big softie. He recently took his kids, 11-year-old Lola and 10-year-old Nakoa Wolf, to see the live-action version of “The Lion King,” and the dad had the sweetest reaction to the film.

He and his wife, Lisa Bonet, went to see the movie together with their kids as part of their daughter’s birthday celebration. Not only did they have fun adorably posing side-by-side before entering the movie, but they also had a great time watching the film as a family:

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY LOVEE. I’m so thankful to be home with my ohana. Big mahalos to @disney @disneystudios for letting us have a party for our Lola Bear @lionking was amazing congrats to everyone who made this film it was heart soul tears epic,” the dad wrote on Instagram.

He even mentioned that the may have shed quite a few tears throughout the movie. “Thanks for making me cry numerous of times in front of a bunch of children,” he wrote.

Of course, it’s not surprising that a story as classic as “The Lion King” might bring out emotions, especially with beautiful musical performances by none other than the incredible entertainers Beyoncé and Donald Glover.

Although, this isn’t the first time Momoa has shown his softer side. In an interview on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” back in 2017, he told the story of how he met his wife, and couldn’t help but gush over her in the process. Momoa said he’d been in love with Bonet ever since he’d seen her on TV when he was just a boy.

“It was more than [love at first sight] because ever since I was like 8 years old and I saw her on the TV I was like, ‘Mommy, I want that one,'” he joked. Then when the two finally met in-person, Momoa could only describe the moment as “fireworks.”

Hear him tell the sweet story in this video from the show’s Youtube Channel:

While Momoa may be perfectly comfortable showing his emotions in public, this film is bound to bring out emotions in everyone, whether you’re prone to shedding tears in a theater full of people or not. But, really, isn’t that what all the best movies do?

“The Lion King” is in theaters now. Who’s excited to laugh, cry and experience the magic of this Disney classic in an all-new way?
