Jesse Tyler Ferguson and husband Justin Mikita welcome baby boy

Now that “Modern Family” has officially come to an end, star Jesse Tyler Ferguson has begun his own real-life modern family. Ferguson welcomed his first child, a baby boy named Beckett, with husband Justin Mikita on Tuesday.

“Jesse and Justin welcomed their little bundle of joy Beckett Mercer Ferguson-Mikita on July 7, 2020,” Ferguson’s representative told People. “The new parents are overjoyed and excited for this new journey as a family of three.”

Ferguson and Mikita got engaged in 2012 and married one year later in a New York City ceremony, officiated by playwright Tony Kushner. Ferguson played lawyer Mitchell Pritchett on all 11 seasons of “Modern Family,” while Mikita is a lawyer in real life — a perfect match!

Soon, the couple will celebrate their seventh wedding anniversary. Now that they have a baby, fans can expect a social media tribute even cuter than last year’s, seen here in Mikita’s tweet featuring a photo from the pair’s beautiful wedding.

The Emmy-nominated actor first shared the news that he and Mikita were expecting in January, during an appearance on “The Late Late Show with James Corden.”

In the midst of talking to his fellow guest Charlie Hunnam about turning 40 and becoming a true adult, Ferguson slyly added, “Actually, this is something I haven’t even mentioned to anyone, if we could just keep it between the three of us and you all, but I’m actually expecting a baby in July with my husband.”

He went on to joke that, as a 44-year-old, the clock is ticking away: “Tick tock.” He didn’t reveal the baby’s sex at the time, only quipping that the child would definitely be “human.” Watch the full hilarious announcement below in a video clip posted to YouTube by “The Late Late Show.”

After Ferguson spilled the beans, he and Mikita celebrated a baby shower in February with many fellow “Modern Family” cast members, including Sarah Hyland and Sofia Vergara. The theme of the poolside party? “S**t Just Got Real.”

Congratulations to these first-time parents!
