Joanna Gaines cheered Chip on in his first marathon

Earlier this year, Chip Gaines made it a goal of his to run a marathon, and he’s been training for months. Come the day of the race on May 6, you better believe his wife and “Fixer Upper” co-host, Joanna Gaines, was right there by Chip’s side.

These two are obviously in total support of each other, and it couldn’t be more adorable. Whether they’re demolishing and rebuilding houses together or seeing each other through their various other business endeavors — they’re always there for each other.

Chip proved he was Joanna’s biggest fan when he recently celebrated the launch of her cookbook by standing in the crowd outside NBC’s “Today” with a big sign:

So, now — it was Joanna’s turn to show her support. And she made it clear that she was extremely proud of Chip and his kind heart.

You see, Chip not only decided to run in a marathon — but he decided to start his own charity run, the Silo District Marathon, in their hometown of Waco, Texas. All proceeds from the run were said to be donated to the Brave Like Gabe Foundation, to support cancer research.

Leading up to the race, Joanna posted a sweet message to Chip on social media.

“Chip, I couldn’t be prouder of you. I am thankful for your big heart and big vision,” she wrote on Instagram. “Go get ’em this weekend, and you better believe I’ll be the first in line at the finish to give you the biggest hug!”

She also threw in “#yourbiggestfan,” along with “#yougotthis.” How sweet is that!

And once Chip completed the race, Joanna and their kids were right there waiting for him.

Chip was also joined in the race by Gabriele Grunewald, a professional runner who has continued to race since first being diagnosed with cancer in 2009. Grunewald was who first inspired him to start the marathon.

And yes — he ran with his tool belt on. What else would you expect? Someone caught this candid moment between Chip and Grunewald, showcasing his running attire, tool belt and all:

In total, the Silo District Marathon raised $250,000 for cancer research.

Way to go, Chip! Much like Joanna and the rest of the family — we couldn’t be prouder of you!
