John Goodman says being back on the ‘Roseanne’ set made the hair on his arm stand up

OK, “Roseanne” fans, are you as excited for March 27 as I am? That’s the date that ABC will premiere its eight-episode revival of the classic sitcom!

And, yes, the entire original cast will be participating, except for Glenn Quinn—who played Mark—who tragically passed away in 2002 due to an opioid overdose. Many fans were concerned that Roseanne Barr’s lovable co-star John Goodman—who played the big-hearted, blue-collar dad Dan Conner on the series for nearly 10 years—would not be a part of the new season of “Roseanne,” as his character was revealed to be dead on the last episode of the ninth season.

Luckily, the show’s writers found a way to resurrect Dan … they’re just going to pretend it never happened. Perhaps not the most clever method of changing continuity, but that works!

Regarding his return to the set of “Roseanne,” Goodman has said the experience has been remarkable. He also said it’s felt more like they just finished the original series a week ago, rather than 20 years ago.

In an interview with Us Weekly, Goodman said, “It was exactly like we took a week off and came back to it, and the effect was so strange that it was remarkable. The first time I went on the set, the hair on my arm stood up because it was like they sucked me right back in.”

I don’t blame him, just seeing that picture of the whole cast back together around the couch is enough to give me chills!

Goodman has plenty to be excited about. Along with the “Roseanne” revival, he also recently was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which many fans would argue was long overdue.

The 65-year-old Missouri native has been acting since the early 1980s. The funny man has hosted NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” 13 times, and was also Conan O’Brien’s first guest on his “Late Night” show. Some of his most beloved roles on the big screen have come in 1998’s “The Big Lebowski,” 2000’s “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” and as the voice of Sully in both “Monsters, Inc.” movies. But Goodman is best known for his long-running role as Dan in “Roseanne.”

And, now, we get to enjoy Goodman’s take on his signature role yet again! My DVR is waiting.
