John Legend became an EGOT winner—and Chrissy Teigen couldn’t be prouder

It’s an extremely rare honor to be the recipient of an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony award. But on Sept. 9, John Legend joined the official EGOT club after winning an Emmy for his performance in “Jesus Christ Superstar Live.”

Until last night, there were only 12 other entertainers who had EGOT status, including Audrey Hepburn, Whoopi Goldberg and Rita Moreno. There are now 15 EGOT winners, including Legend, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Legend is the youngest person to achieve all four awards to date.

Obviously, gaining EGOT status is a rare and impressive feat. Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, were very aware of what was at stake when heading to the Emmys. Teigen tweeted before the winners were announced:

“If Jesus Christ Superstar wins, john will have his EGOT,” she wrote. “And I will make an even uglier cry face,” referencing her infamous reaction at the 2015 Golden Globe awards.

After winning his Emmy and becoming an EGOT recipient, Legend shared his excitement and gratitude on Instagram in a photograph with Rice and Webber. “So amazed to be in such rarefied air,” he wrote.

Naturally, he and Teigen celebrated this major career milestone and proceeded to post about it online.

Teigen shared a photo of the two post-celebration dinner (and dessert!), and the pair couldn’t look more content:

Of course, Teigen also took a moment to let the world know just how proud she was of her husband.

“My incredible man,” she wrote on Instagram. “What a surreal life.”

Once the partying was over, the celebration continued as Legend added his Emmy to his wall of trophies and accolades at home. Upon placing the Emmy on the shelf, Teigen noted that all was “perfect”:

This couple certainly knows how to celebrate!

With an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony under his belt, they’ve certainly had quite a bit of practice with post-award ceremony congratulatory pancakes and more! But the best part about this couple is the fact that they celebrate everything. I mean, you should see how these two do date night:

And the support they have for each other is incredible. Legend even celebrated Teigen on Father’s Day. He posted to Instagram:

“I know it’s Father’s Day and all but my wife is pretty awesome. She’s taking me to dinner but still on mommy duty,” he captioned a photo of Teigen breast-pumping on the way to dinner:

EGOT or no, these two are each other’s biggest fans, and it just doesn’t get better than that!
