John Travolta busts out his old ‘Grease’ dance moves

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon/YouTube

John Travolta stopped by the set of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on the fortieth anniversary — to the day — that the hit film “Grease” premiered in New York City. So naturally, the late night host and the actor had a lot to reminisce about.

But Travolta did more than just talk about the film. He showed Fallon his classic dance moves, too!

Travolta may be 64 years old now, but he’s still got the moves he had when he was 40 years younger.

He explained to Fallon that the dance at the finale of “Grease,” as they’re dancing to “You’re The One That I Want,” is called “the four corners,” and was actually his idea.

Travolta Talks Iconic Dance Move

“I grew up with all these kind of novelty dances,” he explained. “In ‘Grease,’ they needed a step for ‘You’re the One That I Want’ at the end, so I said, ‘Well, we used to do the four corners. Why don’t we do that?”

The choreographer asked to see the move and, well, the rest was history.

Naturally, Fallon asked to see the move as well, and boy did Travolta deliver! See the pair perform “the four corners” together below:

Dance Moves Light Up The Internet

People couldn’t help but react to this incredible 40th anniversary celebration online.

Twitter user @sarahsmotherman called the moment “iconic.”

Other folks couldn’t help but point out that Travolta’s still got it.

“Dude still has the moves,” Twitter user @spn_enthusiast wrote.

Some felt confident they could get up there and perform the move with Travolta, too — given how many times they’ve watched the film.

“I could do this dance, I’ve seen this movie enough,” Twitter user @SharonZurcher tweeted.

And we can definitely relate to that!

As nice as it was reliving the “Grease” days and recalling what a great pair Travolta and Olivia Newton John made, Travolta was also there to talk with Fallon about his upcoming film, “Gotti,” which he and his real-life wife star in.

Considering he and Kelly Preston will be on-screen together, it looks like there’s a new iconic duo to look forward when “Gotti” hits theaters on June 15, and Travolta fans won’t want to miss it!

40 Years Of ‘Grease’

But “Grease” will always hold a special place in our hearts! Although the movie just celebrated its 40th anniversary, there is something about it that is timeless, despite it being set in the late 1950s.

When the film debuted in 1978, “Grease,” indeed, became “the word.” Fans flocked to movie theaters that summer to see the Broadway musical turned into feature film. With sing-along tunes like “Summer Nights,” “Greased Lightning” and “We Go Together,” it was practically impossible to not get swept up in the nostalgia and fun!

And, the chemistry between John Travolta as Danny and Olivia Newton John has carried through four decades!

To celebrate the movie musical’s 40th anniversary, a commemorative DVD was released earlier this year.

Paramount Pictures

“Whether you’ve seen it dozens of times and know the words to every song, or you’re in for the rare treat of seeing it for the first time, watching ‘Grease’ on the big screen with an audience is an unforgettable experience that we’re delighted to offer movie lovers,” Tom Lucas, Fathom Events vice president of studio relations, told E! News.
