Fans of the classic sitcom “Roseanne” are thrilled for the reboot of the show set to premiere in 2018. Now, there’s another reason to celebrate: the character David, played by Johnny Galecki, is officially going to be a part of the cast.
The actor confirmed the good news by sharing a snap on Instagram of his name card and a script with the “Roseanne” set in the background.
Galecki’s return to the show was uncertain, as he currently stars as one of the highest-paid TV actors ever on the CBS hit “The Big Bang Theory.”
But, as his caption explains, it seems the show made it work to allow the actor to reprise his role on “Roseanne.”

“21 YEARS LATER…! Apart from being born, possibly the most surreal experience of my life. Deep thanks to my Big Bang Theory family for knowing the importance of visiting one’s roots and loaning me out for quick minute. Much ❤,” he captioned the photo.
Fans on Instagram went crazy when they heard the news that Johnny Galecki is back.
“So extremely excited for this show. I watch it everyday and it never gets old! So happy you are back,” read one comment.
“So happy for you that you are at your old stomping grounds. I had SUCH a crush on you on that show…..I still do. He he,” read another.
The character of David, of course, was the boyfriend of Roseanne’s moody and sarcastic daughter, Darlene (Sara Gilbert, who’s also back for the reboot).
The reboot will see the grownup couple as parents to two children, eight-year-old Mark (Ames McNamara) and teenaged Harris (Emmy Kenney from “Shameless”).
We can’t wait to see how these two turned out as mom and dad!
Actually, the character of Harris premiered in the original series as a baby when she was born prematurely during the show’s final season. The character of Mark is named after David’s older brother, who was played by Glenn Quinn. Quinn tragically passed away in 2002 at age 32, so it seems that the name is an homage to the late actor.
We can’t wait for the “Roseanne” premiere! In the meantime, we’ll stay glued to the actors’ social media accounts, which are providing an excellent inside look from the set.
