Doctor Delivered Baby On Halloween Dressed As The Joker

Everyone likes to have a little fun on Halloween and doctors are no exception. When Brittany Selph’s water broke on the morning of Oct. 31, she headed to the hospital to deliver her baby. What she couldn’t have anticipated is that her doctor, Dr. Paul Locus, would show up in costume as The Joker, Heath Ledger’s character from “The Dark Knight.”

If you’re unfamiliar with the character, he’s beyond creepy. Here is a shot of the good doctor dressed as the iconic villain, which was  posted by Brittany’s husband Justin on his Facebook page:

If the experience of childbirth wasn’t traumatic enough, I’d say that image would definitely give me nightmares for life!

“We couldn’t help but laugh, when he walked in the room!” Justin told PopSugar. “My wife, being the open-minded woman, with a sense of humor, thought it would be hilarious to have such a unique delivery.”

Dr. Locus said that he was going to go home, change and give out some candy to trick-or-treaters before the baby made its debut, but Brittany insisted he stay in costume.

Here’s the doctor with the Selphs’ baby daughter, Oaklyn Saige, who was born healthy and happy, despite being delivered by one spooky-looking doctor.

Justin said Dr. Locus, who also delivered the couple’s first two children, was more than happy to pose for photos  and have fun with the whole thing.

He even kept the gag running when he appeared the next morning dressed in his normal medical attire. “The next morning, he came in to check on Brittany, and he said, ‘Sorry I couldn’t make it in last night, glad to see the delivery went well,'” Justin says. “Joking, of course. He also gave her a card of congratulations, and he signed it ‘Dr. Joker.'”

What a unique birth story! Oaklyn will sure have a fun story (and pictures!) to look back at on her birthday for years to come!
